The FAQP is a UK industry body focused on maintaining and raising quality standards in first aid training and qualifications.
What it is:
A collaborative forum bringing together organisations from across the first aid world, those who set clinical standards, award/accredit qualifications, and deliver first aid education and training. Rather than each body working in isolation, FAQP pools this expertise into a single stakeholder group. Its Terms of Reference were adopted in December 2020, and the Partnership meets on a quarterly basis.
Its stated aims:
To Identify and discuss topical themes and emerging issues in first aid provision
To inform policy and guide evidence-based practice
To work toward greater cohesion and consistency across UK first aid education
It’s not entirely clear how visible or tangible the outcomes of this work have been in practice, based on what’s publicly available.
Its members span a wide range of respected organisations, including:
St John Ambulance, British Red Cross, St John Cymru, St Andrew’s Ambulance, Royal Life Saving Society
First Aid Awarding Organisation Forum (FAAOF) and First Aid Industry Body (FAIB)
College of Policing, Association of Ambulance Chief Executives, Chief Fire Officers Association
Royal College of Emergency Medicine, Faculty of Pre-hospital Care (Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh), and the Resuscitation Council UK
